Catholic Funeral Services in Singapore consists of three main parts namely;

1. The Encoffining Process where the decedent is brought back to the wake venue. A Priest may or may not be present to officiate the process. This is the beginning of the vigil service. The body lies in a casket and relatives and friends can start to pay respect and offer condolences to the bereaved.
2. Night prayers conducted by several prayer groups depending on which Catholic church in Singapore the decedent is from. Popular prayer groups are the Divine Mercy and Lazarus prayer groups.
3. Catholic Funeral Service on the final day of the wake. A short service would usually be conducted at the wake venue before the cortege leaves. The funeral hearse, together with family and friends will then proceed to the Catholic Church of the deceased's parish and a Catholic Funeral Mass will be conducted. Funeral masses usually last about an hour. Incense is used at the Funeral Mass as a sign of respect and as a symbol of prayers rising to Heaven. Communion is also offered at the Funeral Mass for believers of the Catholic faith. After the Funeral Mass, family, relatives and friends will then head to the crematorium or burial ground to proceed with the funeral. Family members have 30 minutes of allocated time at Mandai Crematorium in Singapore before the actual cremation occurs. Time is also allocated at the burial ground if the burial of the deceased is selected instead. Flowers are often placed on top of the casket as a form of a final tribute paid to the decedent at the final stage of the funeral service. The rosary is also usually recited at the funeral service.
